Styling tips

Event Prep shares its top tips for pulling off this event.

Tip 1

Choose details that can play “double duty” as both decor and a party favor. My favorite detail was the custom double-sided cards that greeted each guest at their place setting – one side featuring a recipe from the book and the other side a fun or uplifting quote from a Southern icon. Guests were invited to take the cards home with them so they could add them to their recipe books or post the motivational quote somewhere around the house when they need a fun little pick-me-up.

Tip 2

Give simple items a quick and stylish upgrade by covering labels with vinyl paper. Miniature “airplane sized” whiskey bottles were given a classy upgrade with labels created from the Martha Stewart Premium Vinyl Collection available at Michaels.

Tip 3

Let the theme of the party inspired your color palette. Choose one or two items for your table setting and let that inspire the rest of your selections to create a cohesive design. The brilliant amber tones found in both whiskey and honey were the inspiration behind the color of our table setting. The table featured a tan gingham linen topped with the Crate and Barrel x Draper James Indigo Vine Woven Placemat that were the perfect shade to help tie the color palette together.

Tip 4

Create a stylish photo lounge area where your guests can both relax and also snap a fun picture to help celebrate the party! You can repurpose furniture from your own home for a unique setting that’s an upgrade some a traditional “selfie” !

Tip 5

If you’re not the most gifted baker than let someone else handle it. We ordered a variety of sugar cookies which were so adorable that they were more than just a dessert – they were a topic of conversation among the guests!
